I think you misunderstand me, Howard. My point was rather that it's the
posts that are seemingly on-topic, but are actually noise, sometimes
arrogantly wrong-headed noise masquerading as signal, that put me off.

But I haven't been seriously put off for quite a while now. And I have
a 'next post' key.

With regard to off-topic posts, I say: get rid of floor-hamsters, and
you risk getting rid of Shadowcat. (It's all part of the enlightened
ecological viewpoint;-)
