Of course you do, Mark. Not to mention the authority to hopefully make
people listen, even if this is an unmoderated group...

To add my $.02... well, actually, I gave a lot more than that to
help support clarinet.org just recently, but like Richard, I'm
considering unsubscribing because of the amount of utter crap I have to
wade through to find something useful on this list. There are plenty of
clarinet related discussions that I'm not interested in, and I have no
problem deleting those, but I draw the line at the chat room-esque posts
we've been seeing of late.

Now, to be fair, I have helped contribute in the past to off-topic
discussions, particularly one large thread last summer, but once the smack
was brought down on me (to use the technical term), I think I have
behaved rather well. Some people in the recent spate of postings have
already been warned multiple times, yet they seem not to take the hint,
and therein lies the root of the frustration for many people here (I
believe).

I really do not want to add myself to the cadre of clarinet players who
have left the list in frustration or disgust over the years, but if I keep
having to read about rodents or one-line off-topic replies that don't
trim attributions, I don't know that I'll be able to stick around.

If you don't want to read Mark's netiquette guide, at least remember this:
think BEFORE you post. When you have finished writing your message, and
before you hit send, read it over and ask yourself: "does this add
anything to the list? Will people be interested in reading this message?"
If the answer is no, delete it, please. To be honest, I probably delete
twice as many messages as I post, and I believe the list is a better place
because of it.

Thank you,

jeremy
