I have noticed this to be true also. (Although on a different level, of
course)
Just a couple of weeks ago my duet partner and I performed a piece
in church. We played through it a few times together ahead of time,
but without the piano accompaniment.
I was getting a teeny bit frustrated with my partner, because he just
wasn't *counting*! And he was rushing, and all that fun stuff. So I
was a little concerned that it might be a big mess when it came time to
play it for *real*. The pianist was not able to meet with us until just ten
minutes or so before the service. So we were able to run through it only
one time with him.
I tell you, it was *so* much better with the piano! The guy was obviously
superior to either of us, and everything just fell into place! It was so
cool.
