Klarinet Archive - Posting 000559.txt from 2003/04

You know Bill, I don't understand why so many people are afraid to take=20=
their clarinets apart. A screw driver, a pair of smooth, non serrated=20
pliers and a spring hooker is all that's needed.
Sometimes it really helps to have access to all tone holes and get any=20=
junk out with a folded pipe cleaner. And, when the keys are off is an=20
excellent time to clean the body parts with a soft toothbrush.
I always return the rod screws (arbors) to the tubing of the keys they=20=
go with so that different length screws end up going back in the right=20=
place. I also keep each pivot screw in the post it came from after=20
removing keys mounted with pivots.
If anyone reading this knows they are NOT mechanically inclined, it's=20
OK to leave such servicing up to those who do it on a regular basis.
