I don't know NC very well, but I have had a great experience with Curt
Altarac, at MusicMedic.com. He guided me through repadding a contra alto and
reviving a long neglected vintage bass clarinet. My guess is that his
overhauls will play like silk. He could probably teach you how to repair
that cork yourself.

He is near Myrtle Beach. He has a very good internet business, and does
have a shop. He specializes in Saxophones but he works with all woodwinds
as far as I know. You might email him and check him out. I have never met
him, but I feel like he's an old friend. He has a Master's Degree in
Saxophone performance, and told me he plays Bach unaccompanied cello
movements daily.
