I think the issues concerning cleff and bass clarinet playing should be
focused on consistency. I grew up playing piano so treble vs. bass =
doesn't
bother me. I think you can make a valid point for either.
What gets me is the fact that when a piece goes between treble and bass, =
you
need to figure out what system it is using for the octave. What is =
worse is
when a piece is written only in treble clef and the part is supposed to =
be
played up the octave! (Sorcerrer's Apprentice comes to mind here- =
although
I've had conductors tell me to play it both ways).
