Learning to read more than one clef is an investment that requires a
certain amount of effort --- similar to learning how to transpose, or
learning alternate fingerings. But it does pay dividends. It's a
skill worth having.

Each of us decides how much effort they want to invest in their music
--- Saturday afternoons only? Eight hours 7 days? Have you ever
wanted to play a left hand piano melody on your clarinet? You'll need
to read bass clef. And so forth.

A person might argue that being able to read two clefs is similar to a
chick breaking out of its eggshell. It puts you at a different level
of mental flexibility and musical existence. I would suspect a high
correlation between people who can't or won't transpose and people who
need everything in treble clef.

Cheers,
Bill
