The odd thing about baritone (euphonium) is that it attracts switchers and
doublers from both trumpet and tuba. Tuba players are more comfortable
with the bass clef parts that match THEIR fingerings, where trumpet players
can sight-read the treble clef parts more easily. Since virtually ALL bass
clarinet players are doublers from soprano clarinets, it is much more
logical for the parts to be written in treble clef for consistency. Just
imagine how silly it would be if A clarinet parts were written in a
different CLEF from Bb parts?
