Thanks, Al, for the description of Lancaster. I believe Jim Peck is who I
met at a recent concert. I enjoyed his playing in the Brahm's Third and
introduced myself. For everyone on the list, Lancaster and Palmdale are
growing towns in the Mojave Desert (a high desert at about 1000 meters).
Edwards Airforce Base, the alternate Space Shuttle landing site is there
also. Tehachapi is beautiful small town in the low southern Sierra Nevada
Mountains about 40 miles north west. They like Air in Tehachapi. There is a
glider port, very clear sky for star gazing, and I believe the prettiest wind
turbine farms in California. Seems to me to be a good place for a woodwind
player. The whole region is a few hours drive from Los Angeles.
