Well, first of all I played on the instrument every day for all those years
in both the orchestra and in chamber music and the key work was becoming
looser. I had it tightened many times and was told that to put new key work
on might create more problems than it would fix. The other problems were of
intonation and speaking in the higher register. It wasn't a mouthpiece
problem because the problem remained when I went to other MP's. I taped some
holes and that helped a bit but it still took a lot of effort to bring it in
line. It still has a beautiful sound but is difficult to play.
