Ray, I am reminded of an old joke, whereby the patient tells the doctor:

"Doc, it hurts when I do this...."

and the doctor replies:

"Well, then don't do that."

If you've tried a certain mouthpiece and it doesn't work for you, then
perhaps the answer is not to play with it?

It would be a different situation, of course, if every mouthpiece that
you tried played a certain note sharp or flat, but you seem to be
satisfied with one particular mouthpiece. So perhaps you simply need
to chalk this experiment up to experience?
