<><> but I am curious why there are always posts that argue there is no
difference in the sound of clarinets from one manufacturer or another

....because some of us are incorrect? <friendly smile>

It is necessary to recognize the distinctions between:

(A) a virtuoso clarinetist who can achieve whatever sound he/she desires
_despite_ the particular instrument that he/she is playing at the
moment;

(B) a less-than-virtuoso clarinetist who is stuck with whatever his
anatomy/technique/instrument produces most conveniently;

(C) and the fact that nobody can pay attention to every detail of an
acoustic wave simultaneously, and although no two sounds are absolutely
identical, the musician may cause one particular detail to attract
notice and to remain constant regardless of which instrument the
musician is playing (thereby producing "his/her special sound" on any
instrument), and the listener (especially a less experienced listener)
simply doesn't attend to the other differences that are 'submerged'
below the surface.
