<><> $10 bucks for a whistle

Heh! In many shops, you can buy _4_ whistes for $10. I bought 4
differently pitched whistles for $10, and I heard a clerk mutter "Thank
goodness for tourists or we'd never make any money."

Tin whistles are an important part of anyone's musical education
because, once you've heard a skilled whistler play one to the limit, you
begin to appreciate that the best music is possible on a $1.50
instrument. This makes you re-think whether you need to spend mid-4
figures in order to enjoy music. In the end, I suppose, concert
performances *do* require expensive instruments, but a small dose of
back-to-earth pragmatism never hurt anyone.
