<><> People have to get away from the source of sound to hear it best.
Did you ever notice how, during an audition, the person judging you
walks away from you?

Distance? This is an interesting question because....

I can understand how a musician hears differently because his/her own
skull is resonating & capturing & conducting vibrations that the
audience doesn't receive.

But consider the following analogy:

An engraver is looking at his product through a magnifying glass. He
sees detail that a 'judge' cannot see because the judge is standing back
a foot or two without aid of a magnifying glass.

The engraver and judge have different opinions of the product. Whose
opinion has more validity? The engraver because he sees detail, or the
judge who feels that the engraver is too close and 'can't see the forest
for the trees'?

In performance (music or otherwise), you can always say the the audience
makes the final decision, I suppose....??

Cheers,
Bill
