Rebecca,

Have you gotten no insurance on this instrument that you keep
dropping? I would say you should discuss getting insurance that
will replace the instrument in the event of an accident (NOT
homeowners insurance riders, but REAL music instrument
insurance, like we had a discussion about 2 months or so
ago...check the archives.) It would be less than $100/year to
get FULL coverage, which covers theft, fire, and most
importantly...accidental damage. Most of those groups will even
cover a rental instrument if a new instrument is backordered for
the replacement.

It's only been a few weeks since the last time your instrument
was dropped and damaged. If your fellow students are not
considerate of the expense of the instrument and how fragile it
is, insurance is QUITE necessary in your situation to avoid the
instrument being destroyed, with you having no way to get
another one.
