A great movie about orchestra (or a conductor's) life is "Meeting Venus"
with Glenn Close. The plot is: A deliciously biting satire about both the
world of Grand Opera and the current 'United Europe'. A Hungarian conductor
attempts to mount a bold new production of TANNHAUSER while navigating the
snares and pitfalls of 'artistic' egos, rampant nationalism, internal
company and union politics, and precarious funding.
