Subj: [kl] U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus Concert.

I was privileged to attend the concert, yesterday, at a local high
school, given by the U. S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus.

A solid hour and a half of great music. (Although the program was
changed to eliminate something called "A Dixie Chicks Sampler". ;) It
was replaced with a swing piece I really enjoyed.

I would really appreciate knowing what the knowledgeable folks on the
list think about this band. They played the 'Finale from Symphony no.
4', arranged by V.F. Safranek and I was impressed. However it
probably does not take an outstanding amount to impress me.......

I noticed the 1st clarinetist took about thirty minutes to pick his
reed from several he kept trying. While another clarinetist just
warmed up - she was playing what looked like a Legere.

I don't get many opportunities to hear this kind of live music out
here in the hinterlands! All comments would be appreciated......
