Fernando, as I am the father of two grown young men, I promise you that you
will love your daughter unconditionally and forgive her even a tin ear or,
worse, a desire to play the viola! I wish you and your wife much happiness
and only nights of easy sleep and days filled with joy without worry.

One can never be sure what one does when a child is born. My "former" and
I thought that our older son would inherit my and her musical ear and gift
for picking up instruments. He played the clarinet for one term in
elementary school (it was a Buffet!) and never played again. He's become a
TV broadcaster in upstate New York and a fine career beckons. We assumed
our younger son wouldn't be able to carry a tune if it were strapped to his
back: so of course he is the one who learned the play trumpet, baritone
horn, and guitar (electric and acoustic). He also writes poetry, God help
him. He became a drama major and has also written all the computer music
for Goucher College's full-length production (next week) of "The Laramie
Project," in which he also performs.

Pleased? proud? MOI?:-)

Kids are great even when they make you insane.

If we all carry a little of the burden, it will be lightened. If we share
in the suffering of the world, then some will not have to endure so heavy
an affliction. It evens out.
