List,
I have a Buffet brochure from about 1955. The date is my guess,
judging from various clues. Perhaps it would interest you to hear what the
advertising of the time said.
"Matched sets, comprising a Buffet Master Model "Bb" and Buffet Master
Model "A" Clarinet in their new, Buffet attache case with double zipper
cover, represent the ultimate in Clarinets. Each set is selected, matched
and assembled in France by France's greatest Clarinetists such as Oubradous,
Cahuzac and others. The instruments are retested by New York's finest
Symphony Clarinetists. They then receive a final regulation and tuning to
conform to American standards. Matched sets are supplied in the following
models:
R-13, 17 keys, 6 rings $650
R-14, 17 keys, 7 rings $725
R-14 1/2, 18 keys, 7 rings $775"
