Walter, I am very grateful for your generous thoughts. But the Bizet
symphony is a peculiar case. He was 17 when he wrote and had no idea
how to transpose things, so he wrote for EVERYTHING in C. I've seen the
original manuscript. Trumpets in C, horns in C, clarinets in C.

While he may very well have wanted the instruments in C, it is, as I
said, a peculiar case. Though it is a lovely symphony.
