George,
I remember from high school (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) putting my
clarinet mouthpiece on a trombone, making sure there was a decent seal and
blowing while gingerly adjusting my embouchure. I could usually get a low
note that lost discernable pitch when the slide was extended. Sounded a lot
like an Indy car.
