This wasn't an accident, but quite humorous at the time.

I had a trumpet-playing friend in college named Henry. When preparing for
his senior recital, Dr. Wayne Gorder (the trumpet prof) lent Henry a Mt.
Vernon Bach 5C mouthpiece - Dr. Gorder's *favorite* for picc playing. (A
Mt. Vernon Bach is much like a Cicero Kaspar; while not the Holy Grail, not
replaceable either.)

As is happened, Henry was also getting some coaching on the side from Fred
Sauter down in Portland. Mr. Sauter thought Henry sounded good, but would
sound even better if he could just ream out that mouthpiece just a little .
