Alan,
I think your notes about cones are quite interesting. I can't comment
technically because I've never done the math on a cone, and as I've mentioned
my next goal is to study the acoustics website, etc. and get smarter about
it. But I don't believe anyone has suggested that you or Mr. Ferron are
outright wrong, and the way you described cones working makes some intuitive
sense. Someone suggested, I believe, that the theory for cones is quite
complex and this sort of agrees with your saying that a given cone may not
overblow or be anywhere close to being in tune. So I'm taking your
explanation to be on the right path.

PS to the list. I'm now converted from the digest form of the list to real
emails. And it is definitely an improvement. It is almost realtime, and the
number of emails is manageable.
