Natalie,
I attended Interlochen during the summers of 2000 and 2001, and I'm not
aware of any four-week program for instrumentalists in the high school
division. Except for the All-State program (which is entirely separate from
everything else, and basically only uses the same facilities), everything
for high schoolers is eight weeks. Were you accepted into the intermediate
division? (I'm confused now and trying to figure this out.) Anyway, I
found it to be an incredible experience, and I can promise you that there
will be no lack of amazing players and teachers. I'm obviously biased, but
if you have the time and money, I would strongly recommend Interlochen.
It'll really give you a good feeling for where you stand on a national
level, since it can be easy to get isolated in a local or state environment.
You'll hear some really memorable and exciting performances by guest
artists, too. Sorry about the lateness of this response, I just got back
from spring break and haven't had access to my computer for a while.
Leslie
