Probably one that is the exact shape of the tone hole. (My first guess)

Still an interesting idea.

Greetings all

Thanks for the responses to the silicone pads. Lots of issues I still need
to
think about. First of all
I do have a method of making molds, so what would be an optimum pad shape.
Seems that a convex shape is the best. If the apex is small enough to fit
inside the tone hole then the convex shape will seal very nicely. The part
of
the pad which sits in the cup can be made of X length. Easily trimmed off
to fit key height and such. Then a small amount of adhesive in the cup is
all
that is required to secure the pad.

So what is the perfect pad shape?
