Thank you, Oliver. When I first joined our list, I was overwhelmed by
the number of posts I received every day and annoyed by some of the
topics of debate. I have changed my mind since then and decided not to
be annoyed. I had a surgery on Monday to remove vocal polyps and I am
home and not teaching this week. Hopefully I will be able to sing again
someday. Right now I have a one-octave vocal range. Actually, right now
I can't even produce a grunt. This relates to the clarinet, because many
teachers express a musical phrase by singing it to the student. I have
been so busy practicing and preparing all of my students for contest
that I haven't had much time to check out the list until this surgery.
Lately I have been deleting just about everything.
I have been interested in "Kimber the Wrestler", Rebecca &
Elizabeth, because I hope that they will continue to have some good
experiences with the clarinet, and maybe won't make some of the mistakes
I have made. I was touched by the fact that Tony Pay shared his story
about "The Wrong Rossini". What may have appeared to be "useless
chatter" was
Rebecca's confusion over finding the right composition.
By the way, Walter, my students have all tried out that barrel you
gave me in Norman. For some reason that particular barrel plays
perfectly in tune and just sounds great. I have 2 other RC barrels that
came with the clarinet and one Guy Chaddish barrel, and they just don't
sound very good for my clarinet. I still want to paint a picture of
Squidward on the barrel. Will you be manufacturing that type of a barrel
in the future and how much will they go for? ANNIE
