Hi Walter,

Perhaps related to your idea is this info I was sent from Buffet on oiling
greenline clarinets...

"It is not necessary to oil the bore of a green line clarinet however it can
be oiled as for a traditional wood clarinet, it can help to eliminate water.
Be very cautious when oiling we usually recommend to have it done by a
repairman too much oil would damage the pads.

"The frequency is actually different according to people. When water starts
to accumulate in the pads it can help in eliminating the excess of water."

So even in an instrument where oil really can't penetrate, it still has a
benefit.
