This thread reminds me of a somewhat related problem I'm having; I
have an A-flat piccolo clarinet I bought from L.A. Ripamonti; I love
the horn but wasn't so happy with the mouthpieces he had and use the
Vandoran Ab mp instead. The problem is that that mp is much shorter
than those Ripamonti designed the instrument for, so I need to pull
the mp out quite a bit--the tone doesn't suffer much, but I'm actually
afraid of the mp falling out of the joint. (it's a one piece body +
bell, so there's no other place to adjust tuning). Does anyone know
if it's possible to lengthen the joint on a mouthpiece, or any other
way to make a connection more stable when you're only using half the
cork you normally would.

I know it's not a particularly usual instrument for this list, but I
wonder if anyone has had a similar problem on other key clarinets and
has a solution.

Thanks,
Myke Cuthbert
