There are many posts in the archives of the klarinet list from very fine, professional clarinetists talking about ways of tuning the clarinet.

You could start by pulling some off and showing them to your band director.

I'm thinking of one particular post from Clark Fobes stating that he almost always pulls out between the upper and lower joints of his clarinet, to avoid sharpness in the lower chalumeau.

Believe me, if Clark says it, it has been well thought out.
