I was at Howard Wiseman's workshop (in his mum's home, actually) in
November to pick up a new triple case (bass clarinet, Bb, A) to fit the
re-designed bells of the new Buffet Prestige bass. He was kind enough to
custom adjust the case for my instruments, taking a great deal of time and
care in the process....this is clearly a man who takes much
pride in his products. He is also a fine, working bassoonist in the
London area. Having spent many years traveling the world with his cases,
and able to speak from experience about their durability and quality, I
don't believe there is anything finer on the market. Expensive? ...yes.
Worth it? ...absolutely.

The care in manufacturing, attention to details and quality of materials
of these cases are superlative. I occasionally get questions about
"what's in it?" in going through airport security, but have only had to
gate check the bag once. And it fits in all of the overheads of any size
aircraft....even the turboprops.

The British pound is currrently about $1.50 US, so a 400 L. case is about
$600 US. H. Wiseman also does not take credit cards, obligating the
purchaser to do an international bank transfer or an international money
order.
