I play with very crooked lower incisors. My favorite tooth cover is a
laboratory paraffin-rubber film called "Parafilm", used about three
thicknesses thick and formed over the lower teeth. It is sold as "Lipease"
(or something like that) for this purpose, or you can bum enough from a
friendly scientist to last the rest of your life!

Having said this, I have found that as my embouchure got stronger, my need
for tooth protection got less. Guess I have stopped biting or something.
