you need to pretty much re-form your embrochure. At least that's what i had
to do. I also had huge problems with D, D#, E in altisimo, but could easily
play up to a C above that. You just have to be patient and don't stress
yourself- it's worth it when you get them off- and you playing improoves
dramatically. Also, i had to use two pieces of florist tape stuck together
on my bottom teeth and braces to stop them slashing my lip. Hope this helps,

Hi

I've been playing clarinet (Bb) for about 2 years - I'm in Grade 8 - and I
was really starting to sound okay. However, I recently got braces (and a
retainer!) and my tone has really gone down the drain, even if I take the
retainer out! Does anyone have advice for me? If this topic has been
discussed on the list before, please accept my apologies (and please tell me
where I can get the messages :-).
