Hi Dee.
The Detroit Ford International Jazz Festival is held during the long Labor
Day holiday every year.

The Michigan Jazz Festival (the smaller one - maybe 20K-30K people during
the day) is held on the grounds of Schoolcraft College in Livonia. Last year
it was July 21. The evening programs (Bess Bonnier, Johnny Trudell) are
normally SRO. But for free - who cares! (Anyone who's listened to Motown has
heard Johnny Trudell - he was lead trumpet for Motown way back in the 60s,
and has only gotten better with age).

You just missed the U of M Jazz Festival on February 15th.

I also hear from my older son that he and other members of the CIM Orchestra
will be accompanying the Dave Brubeck Quartet in Cleveland. As the older one
said " ... damn. He's over 80 and I'm worried about keeping up with him, too
..."

Jazz is alive & well with the younger generation ...

Mark C.
