Most homeowner riders pay NET WORTH, and not replacement costs
for instruments. Most homeowner riders only cover instruments in
your home, car or a place you are staying, such as a hotel if
you are away, unless it is in your presence when it is stolen.
This means if you are at a friend's house and leave it there to
go to the movies, and the clarinet is stolen while you are out,
it is not covered. LOTS of loopholes for riders for homeowners
insurance, PLUS, if they value your R13 at $1200, since it is
used, and it cost $2000 to replace, you have to cough up $800
PLUS the deductable, which is probably $250 ior $500 for the
policy to being with. Not very cost effective. Think of
totalling a car. If you have more to pay on the car note than
the blue book value, you will have to PAY the difference that
the insurance doesn't pay to pay off the car note...

Get insurance specific for musical instruments, not a rider for
a homeowners policy. You'll pay 1/4 the amount of the rider's
cost to get real insurance.

(Sorry...already posted that, but wanted to post it again. You
may have to be in the union to get this sort of insurance, But
it is worth joining the union to get that. You also get $5000
FREE insurance for computer equipment if you get their
insurance, so it is well worth the $.)
