Sheesh, Rebecca don't say stuff like that. If you love it, just keep at it,
and don't let anything make you doubt or hate yourself for not
being as "good" as you think you should be. If you want to study
music in college, then you should. Don't be JEALOUS of other people
who you THINK are better that you!!!
I know a lot of people who love music and have become music
teachers as a way of making a living at it. This works for some,
but I know they have very little time to practice or play professionally,
because teaching takes up so much of their time. It is hard to be
good enough to make your entire living playing music, because you
have to be SO excellent, and there is a lot of competition out there.
But you need to stop putting yourself down, and making comparisons
with other people. Just do it because you love it, and do your best,
and get to know other people like yourself. Once you have connections
with other musicians, you will probably find yourself getting involved
in small ensembles and little bands that do paid gigs (parties,
background music for special dinners, wedding receptions, and
so on) It's great fun to go out with your musician friends and play music
together and get paid for it, too! You gotta start somewhere!
