It was my impression that Karl Leister lived and played 40-50 years ago.
Yesterday I bought a CD of Francaix compositions, and I noticed that the
clarinetist was Karl Leister and the CD was recorded just a few years
ago. So I wondered if there were two generations of clarinet family
involved. When I looked through my other CDs, I noticed that Karl
Leister recorded some Brahms fairly recently as well. So I think my
initial impression was wrong.(...)

Well: he began to play in the berliner philharmoniker when he was =
quite
young (21 I believe) and real famous! He was born in 1937 I believe. And =
he
is still performing at this moment!! So maybe it=B4s the one and only mr =
Karl
Leister, now and lets say 40 years ago!! Pretty amazing and we owe him =
(mr
Leister) our deepest respect!!

Yours
Jeroen T. Salm
