This morning I was driving through Tucson, AZ on the way to El Paso. And
Tucson has a good classical music station coming out of the University
of Arizona. The discussion was about a performance of SotR that is to
take place tonight (I think) and I found it curious that the discussion
of the work on Klarinet had been so strong at the very time that I went
through Tucson.

The clarinetist is unknown to me and is a woman. I mention her gender
only in case some knows of a good female clarinetist in Tucson. I think
that at John Denman's death, his position as clarinetist in the TSO
opened up and perhaps the lady clarinetist is that woman. It is not
Jerry Kirkbride who teaches clarinet at the University (though I once
heard him play it with his former wife who wound up doing several
hundred performances of King and I with Brunner in a road production).
