I am not playing on Strength 9 1/2 Grand Concert V12 Super-Thick Blanks (TM)
if that's what you mean!-) My reeds are quite responsive and only of
moderate strength (Zonda 3 and 3.5) so I don't think that's the problem.

This is what I thought. I think another thing may be the relatively high
tessitura of the staccato in the new pieces I'm working on (it may be
compounding the problem). Certainly I seem to be using too much jaw
pressure in the staccato passages. I shall do some experimenting in the
next few days and see what else I can find...
