Oh, but they do such a horrible job of "teaching" PE in most schools. The
jocks get A's. The regular kids get B's. The geeks and fat kids get C's.
Doesn't matter how hard anyone tries, or how well they manage with the body
and abilities they have. They don't teach you about fitness, sports
physiology or nutrition. PE should be teaching kids how to stay reasonably
fit and active all their lives. Instead, it often makes them feel
incompetent and uncomfortable in their bodies. Kids drop out of music if
they have poor hand-eye coordination or a total lack or talent or interest,
and that's probably alright. But, everyone needs to learn how to keep their
body in decent working order, not just the talented athletes. That's what
they should be teaching in gym.

(Sorry about the off topic rant. I promise I'll practice my clarinet
tonight.)
