Clark, that is the best article I have ever read concerning audition
preparation. I am going to print it out for my clarinet students who
will be auditioning for symphonic band at the High School and Jr. High
in the spring. In our district the 7th and 8th graders are expected to
play at least a 2 1/2, preferably 3 octave chromatic scale, among other
things including an excerpt from a Rose Etude. I like to work on their
chromatic scale with Abe Galper's 3-octave verstion at the beginning of
his "Scales & Arpeggios".
