There is virtue in having body materials remain constant. My bassoon is
plastic and my soprano clarinet is a Buffet "Green Line." These
instruments, and my saxophones will stay as they were built. That is
good IF I have good acoustical examples.
I still want a high grade, maple bassoon before I die.
