I agree, but unfortunately I don't have the resources to experiment with
what would probably be the dozens of mouthpieces that I'd like to try out
with the Legere. Asking for others' experiences in the altissimo with the
Legere "standard" reed as compared to the Quebec model was an attempt to
deal with the least expensive variables first: the reed cut, and maybe reed
placement or the possibility that my chops should be used differently.

I certainly wasn't suggesting that Legeres aren't "good." I have no
prejudices against them or for cane, for sure.

Yes, there are scads of reed models, but I've always decided on which to use
based on how they worked on a particular setup. How many of us, before
Legeres came along, have even considered choosing a mouthpiece and ligature
(and maybe an instrument?) specifically to accommodate a reed model instead
of the other way 'round?

I sense some paradigm shifts coming.
