Unfortunately, you can count the number of orchestral works using the
contrabass clarinet on one -- possibly two -- hands. This topic came up
several years ago and it was amazing just how few works there are. I'm off
to search the Klarinet Archives to refresh my memory. I know that Salonen
has written a new work for the LA Philharmonic called "LA Variations"

that makes extensive use of the contrabass clarinet. As I remember, there
were several operas that also use the "pedal clarinets."
