I have three editions of the Adagio. The Belwin (Kalmus) has a G# in bar
18. The edition edited by Arthur Christmann (Solos for the Clarinet Player
published by Schirmer) has a G natural. The Cahuzac Concertino D'Apres un
Quintette De Baermann (Billaudot) uses a version of the Adagio as the
sedond movement and also has the G natural. Also, Harold Wright (Boston
Records BR1028CD) plays a G natural and drops the passage to the throat
register..........hmmm, interesting. When I studied the piece (a long time
ago) with Herb Blayman, he changed the G# to a G natural in the edition I
was using and I have alway's played it with the G natural. Hope this helps.
