Having pre-recorded music to PRACTICE with is a wonderful thing. But in
performance, the less professional the group, the more you NEED live
musicians to go chase the amateurs wherever they may drift off to! It is
not uncommon for them to drop a verse, come in early/late, etc. Only live
musicians can accommodate that. Besides, if pre-recorded music is a good
thing, why not pre-record the acting and singing, too. Just make a movie!
