Barb,

Clark is being modest. HE makes a wonderful Eb mouthpiece, which
is the one that I use for Eb work. If you are in the market for
a new mouthpiece, Clark's would be one many of the Eb players
(AND Bb players AND Bass Clarinet players) on the list would
recommend. There are a lot of great Bb mouthpiece makers on the
list, but very few that have superb Eb and Bass mouthpieces as
well.

I also agree with Clark's assessment of the reeds for Eb,
although you may not be familiar with the White Master reeds
from VanDoren. These are *Bb* clarinet reeds that he is
shortening, mainly because they are too long for the mouthpiece
and would butt up against the barrel if not shortened to fit the
Eb mouthpiece. I use shortened VanDoren V12s for Eb playing, and
get a lot more sound in the altissimo, AND a lot LESS squeaks
than when I use Eb reeds. I will have to try the White Master
reeds too. None of the shops in NYC carry White Masters anymore,
so I will be doing the order thing to get them.

God luck to you on your Eb playing!
