Walt,
I did end up finding the serial number....
it is 830G1...doesn't have all the cool extras
like the one you are describing, though it
does play real well. It would sure be cool
to have an alternate C#/G#!!!!
Do you have access to a serial number list
for the "A" models?
I am thinking I need to break it in slowly, like
a new one, because it hasn't been used for a
while. My Bb was made c.1936, and it had
been stored away on a shelf somewhere for
who knows how long. My repair guy said he
didn't think I'd need to worry about breaking
it in, so I started right in playing it for 2 to 3 hours
a day... Guess what? It got a couple of nasty
cracks in it within two weeks!!! Bummer.
I don't want that to happen to this one...
