Hallo all,

I am curious about the Eb I have. It is a plastic Selmer USA with a
"Leo M Bundy 3" mpce. I rented it (sort of) from the instrument
dealer here in Saskatoon. Thing is, I quite enjoy playing it. But
I'm not progressing like I thought i would and I'm not sure if it is me
or the instrument. I was thinking of getting a new mouthpiece for it
but am unsure if I want to spend the money if I'm gonna give it up
after this season out of frustration. It is the altissimo register
that is giving me the most problems. I already had the repair guy fix
the pads and such. And actually it is just as I cross into that range.
And no more than three notes later I am playing fine, if I stay in
the range.

Now I could be completely out to lunch here but I noticed that the V
between the reed and the mouthpiece (side view) is much larger on the
Eb combination than my Bb combination. Is this contributory? Or is it
designed that way because it is smaller? That is a reason why I wanted
to try a different mouthpiece first.

Anyhow, I'm playing on vandoren 3 1/2s right now. I bought a box of 3s
at the same time but find they do better sitting in the box (even on my
bad days!). It's the blue box vandoren. I am playing on the 1/2 V12s
on my Bb.

I'll be glad for any advice or opinions on this particular clarinet /
set up.

Cheers and thanks in advance,
Barb
