Those would be something I'd enjoy playing on a keyboard instrument,
piano or harpsichord - as well as clarinet. One of my most enjoyable
times performing was in a recital in which I accompanied either a tubist
or trombonist (I forget which now!) who performed a Sonata with only a
figured bass accompaniment! More fun than getting dirty! And what do
you mean by "progress nicely"? NOTHING in figured bass EVER progresses
nicely - it's all dastardly difficult! (for me, anyway - but that's the
real joy, isnt it? :D)
