I hope not, as I still use mine :-)... I asked becuase mine used to
leave a dark "scuff" mark on my reed (not mold, thankfully) if I pushed
the reed in too far. The mark showed up at the thickest part of the
reed that the clip made contact with.

Diane, Are the metal ones bad? I do sometimes use a metal reedholder
that
really is for saxophone reeds. I now have a case with glass slides in
it
that stinks also. The glass is just barely long enough for the reeds
and if
I'm in a hurry and push a micrometer too far, I break the tips. I also
dropped it and the latch promptly broke. Does anyone have a suggestion
for
me? I've been looking for one I like but so far haven't found the
perfect
one for me.
